What is VTEST English – Listening & Reading?

VTEST English – Listening & Reading is an adaptive exam composed of oral and written comprehension sections, and one grammar section.

How much time do I need to take the exam?

As VTEST exams are adaptative tests, the duration may vary depending on the level of the candidate. The questions increase in difficulty in order to cover CEFR levels A1 to C2. The test stops at the candidate’s level.

For a Listening & Reading test, you will need between 15 to 70 minutes, with the average time being around 40 minutes. For a 4SKILLS exam, 35 to 120 minutes are required, with an average duration of 60 minutes.

What is VTEST English – 4SKILLS?

VTEST English – 4SKILLS is an adaptive exam composed of oral and written comprehension sections, one speaking section and one writing section.

Listening and Reading sections include:

  • Listening comprehension
  • Reading comprehension
  • Grammar section

Speaking and Writing sections include:

  • Speaking section (reading proficiency, listen and repeat, task speaking fluency)
  • Writing section

For better understanding:

reading proficiency: your will be asked to read a text out loud

listen and repeat (elicited imitation): you will be asked to listen and repeat what you heard

task speaking fluency: you will be asked to read a question and provide an answer to a specific topic

When will I be able to access my results?

If you are taking the VTEST English – Listening & Reading, results are instantly delivered if no suspicious activity is detected for an online proctored exam. However if a supervisor’s review is required, results will be delivered within 1-48 hours after completion of the exam. For standard testing without proctoring, you will see you results directly on the test platform, once the exam is completed.

If you are taking VTEST English – 4SKILLS, results will be accessible within 48 hours maximum for an online proctored exam, including supervisor’s review.

What is VTEST Video & Writing Interview?

The Video & Writing Interview is an option that can be part of any kind of exam. At the end of the test section, you will access an interview instruction page followed by a video and a writing interview.

This section is composed of one question for video interview and one question for writing interview. The duration of the video interview cold be from 1 to 3 minutes. For the writing interview, you will have to answer within a time frame and instructions about the minimum number of words required will be displayed.

The Video & Writing Interview is optional and will not provide any score. Your test center can access and review the interview directly from the results platform.

The Video & Writing Interview is commonly used by companies and universities in the recruitment or admission process.

VTEST ENVIRONMENT

Which identity document is allowed?

The candidates are asked to identify themselves at the beginning of the test. Only an official ID is allowed: passport, driver’s license or national ID card. If another document is presented, the test results might be unvalidated.

What type of digital device may I use?

The candidates are allowed to take the test on a device with a front-facing camera. This means you are allowed to use a tablet, smartphone or computer with a microphone and speakers.

When you first log in to the test, the system will automatically check your device compatibility including the type of device, the web browser and the operating system (Windows, IOS, macOS).

What equipment do I need to take the exam?

To take a VTEST English Test, the equipment needed is a device with a front-facing camera as well as a high-quality and reliable internet connection or 4G cellular connection if using a smartphone. The candidates are also asked to show an official ID to identify themselves.
